Supreme flexibility enables Lyric to run on all Duet® Family CGs, selected Chyron board-level products and Windows® PCs.

2D/3D graphics can be created on- or offline, locally or remotely, with real-time playout, and without the time-consuming file conversion required by other CGs. Timeline-based animations emulate the leading nonlinear editing applications, making Lyric a perfect fit in a fully integrated workflow. Each object and its attributes are controllable from discrete timelines, and on-screen motion paths ensure pinpoint accuracy.

Lyric supports the import and export of numerous standard 2D, 3D and animation file types, and allows graphics created in 4:3 or 16:9 to be automatically output in either or both formats. Lyric is resolution-independent and supports scaling for NTSC, PAL, HDTV and user-defined aspect ratios.

Comprehensive Text and Design Tools

Lyric features a full-page, 3D animation space, with a WYSIWYG layout and a wealth composition tools. 2D, 3D and animation objects can be effortlessly imported into Lyric without conversion or processing. Text can be 2D or 3D, with variable attributes such as color, font style, texture and size. Unique effects can be created by layering multiple, simultaneous rolls and crawls at different speeds, slow reveals, clocks, timers and text typed on curves.

Lyric features a set of masking, compositing and Advanced Text and Image Effects tools that add intricacy and depth to compositions. Graphics can be refined with complex multi-texturing, settable perspective and multiple-source lighting, as well as scaled, layered, rotated and animated. Lyric’s Clip Control Panel heightens dynamic impact with synchronized playout of single or dual video/audio files, Aprisa clips, X-Clyps, DDRs and VTRs.

Instantaneous Update from Live Data Sources and the Newsroom

Time-critical news and sports environments demand the ability to update text and graphics at a moment’s notice. Lyric blends the best of both worlds, allowing a mix of updateable and static text and graphic elements. Lyric offers quick, manual updates, as well as an indispensable set of update tools, including the industry-standard Chyron Intelligent Interface® and DB Link. Specialized, third-party live data import applications are also available. The optional Chyron MOS newsroom solution provides unprecedented graphics creation and update power in the newsroom environment. For extended playlist control, Chyron’s Intelligent Sequencer option, iSQ®, centralizes playlist management and playout in a single GUI. From a single or multiple control points, iSQ enables the monitor and control of one or more MOS-generated playlists playing out to single or multiple Duet systems. iSQ features thumbnail displays of preview and air messages, with the ability to trigger playout of any message, on any playlist, at any time.

Lyric in the Nonlinear Editing Environment

With a worldwide base of users, Lyric’s reach and industry-wide acceptance extends beyond the Chyron environment into the top nonlinear editing suites. Lyric is available as a plugin for Grass Valley® NewsEdit system, Avid®, and Leitch® non-linear editing applications.
