LEIF

LEIF is a powerful API for developing real-time graphics applications and plugIns for Chyron Platforms. The API uses the Lyric PRO render engine and allows software designers complete access to all Lyric PRO features such as 3D graphic objects manipulation and creation, data binding for automated control of graphic elements, control over Chyron HD/SD framebuffers, DVE’s and clip playout. LEIF can be used to create plugins to Lyric (i.e. LEIFlets), to create stand-alone applications, or to simply create macros in Lyric.

A LEIF PlugIn can enhance and extend the functionality of Lyric by defining new menu items to trigger specialised operations and invoke custom dialog boxes and controls. In addition, various real-time events occurring in Lyric can be intercepted by the PlugIn to provide synchronisation between the Plugin and Lyric. A common scenario is for the plugIn to be notified when a Lyric animation has been recalled, recorded, or played to output and then to perform some type of external data acquisition or control.

LEIF stand-alone applications can be written to leverage the power of the Lyric Pro real-time Graphics rendering engine without using or displaying the Lyric User Interface. In this scenario, a custom control panel can be presented to the user thereby limiting the complexity of the interface and focusing the user’s attention on a specialised and well purposed interface.

LEIF forms part of Chyron’s interFuse technology and provides a window into the complete connectivity afforded by Lyric and CAMIO, including XMP metadata asset management and manipulation, FBX file imports and much more. LEIF can be used as a platform to develop plugins for Lyric or to create complete products focused on specific market needs.
