SeaChange – PRODIS-TRAXIS

With PRODIS-TRAXIS the VOD operator has full and highly automated control over all Video On Demand (VOD) processes involved: ingest of content, definition of products, generating consumer catalogues, creating royalties reports and other business reports. The system interfaces with all kinds of (back- office) equipment via flexible adapters.

Background

For On Demand video services the future looks very promising due to a quickly growing interest of consumers to watch TV and video content of their specific choice at the time of their choice. This tendency offers video service operators great opportunities to enrich their business with advanced On Demand Services, including time shift TV services such as network PVR and restart TV, while remaining in control of the content – an important issue for content providers.

Until shortly it proved to be a tedious and error prone job, to operate a complex range of product definitions enabling transactional avante-premiere offerings (on-demand availability before broadcast), weekend- or special thematic packages, special promotions, season- or subscription packages and so on; even more when combined with attractive multi-pricing models and taking into account the consequences of underlying contracts with content providers.

Key features

The PRODIS-TRAXIS system manages Free-, Subscription and Transactional VOD services, including consumer features like Trick Play and network PVR. Even Time Shift TV is embedded, allowing the VOD operator to offer its customers avanced services like Delay TV or Restart TV.

The whole system has an operator-centric, flexible graphical user interface (GUI), supporting the VOD operator in his day to day work by either avoiding manual intervention at all or facilitating his task as much as possible. The user interface has a modern look and feel and it comes with drag-and-drop facilities.

PRODIS

Via its flexible interfaces PRODIS allows to be connected to a multitude of content-ingestion sources (including events on time-shift services), back-office systems like Business Support systems (BSS), including Customer Relation Management (CRM) and Operations Support Systems (OSS) e.g. billing, but also to system elements like video servers from different vendors. It supports the management of channels / services, events, asset-content and asset-metadata.

TRAXIS

The same flexible architecture allows TRAXIS to communicate with a wide range of Geographical- and Network Registration Systems (GIS, NRS), clients in different kinds of Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE, like set top boxes) with their applications, and Digital Rights Management (DRM) / Conditional Access (CA) systems. It actually enables the consumer to order his product (content selection), to control and process transactions involved, to optimally allocate the required video server based on the network topology and to gather all required data (a.o. product, asset, date and time, smartcard and price) for updating operators’ back office systems.
