S&T have developed a number of products to ease the delivery of Video on Demand content to the home. MHEG Mediator takes VoD data from a vendor’s back-end system and transforms it into a format the set-top-box can understand. It provides a simple, consolidated interface to numerous third-party back-end systems, thereby masking the differences in each.

S&T’s Mediator has a flexible, scalable framework for accessing, processing and caching metadata. Mediator supplies data to S&T Player in a format that is highly optimised and requires very little additional processing in the TV. This approach minimises the bandwidth required for data communications and helps ensure the best possible performance for the viewer.

An optional addition to Mediator is the Aggregator component. Aggregator provides a HTTP interface for retrieving EPG and detailed programme information, and for performing searches by criteria such as title, synopsis and genre.
